June's Leading Edge with Julie Boyd
Welcome to the June edition of Leading Edge. As the Chair of the Membership & Strategy Committee I am delighted to provide an update on the latest Member activities and initiatives happening across the country.
In exciting news from Queensland, AIM and AIM ET will host a lunch with the NRL’s Cowboys on July 7th in Mackay. The invitation-only event will host 120 key local business, government, sport and community leaders. Hosted by AIM Chief Executive, David Pich, the event will bring AIM’s commitment to good management and leadership to regional North Queensland.
Nationally, nominations are now open for the AIM Leadership Excellence Awards (ALEAs). Celebrating outstanding leadership is crucial to fostering an innovative, dynamic and successful work culture and this year there are two additional categories – Student and Community Leader. If you are an outstanding leader in your workplace or community – or know somebody who is – make a nomination here.
‘The GPS Girl®’ and the Australian voice of Siri, Karen Jacobsen, will be presenting at Outstanding Leaders Events in Sydney and Brisbane. Karen, whose voice is in 400 million devices worldwide, will discuss her journey from Mackay, QLD to running her own business in New York, and all the successes and stumbles in between. Join her in Brisbane on July 8th, or Sydney on July 12th to hear why it’s Never Too Late To Recalculate.
In Canberra, The Great Debate will be tackling whether ‘Positive Discrimination Works’. This week two of the speakers have been announced: Phillip Coorey, Chief Political Correspondent for The Australian Financial Review; and Frances Crimmins, Executive Director of YWCA Canberra. These two distinguished speakers will be joined by MC Erin Molan, from the Nine Network’s Footy Show. This looks to be an insightful, thought-provoking and fun event, so make sure you book your tickets here for July 29th.
In August AIM will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest national simultaneous networking event. Networking is a key part of good management and on August 29th we will be proving that Networking is Working at our National Networking Day. Events will be held all over the country, so save the date and watch out for more information coming.
And finally, if you have not yet renewed your AIM Membership for the next 12 months, you can do so in just moments online, via BPAY or by calling us on 1300 661 061. Simply quote the details from your invoice.
