Leading with Integrity
Challenge yourself to make integrity your core leadership value.
In this CD, Margaret Thorsborne outlines what she calls the ‘Big Three’ of leadership – integrity, truth and honesty – and why she considers these traits to lie at the core of truly effective leadership.
Margaret talks about:
- the impact of leadership with integrity on productivity and the bottom line
- why trustworthiness is crucial for effective leadership
- what happens in organisations where trust is absent or eroded
- how to encourage others to talk and act with honesty at work
- how to survive in an organisation that doesn’t value integrity
- practical steps to help you strengthen your own sense of integrity.
Leading with integrity can positively affect workplace relations, productivity and the bottom line. If it is absent, however, the consequences for an organisation can be disastrous.
Any discussion of leadership with integrity must also canvas the notion of trust. Margaret explains what happens in organisations when leaders lose the trust of followers by failing to deliver on promises, being dishonest in their dealings with staff, neglecting their duty of care, or forgetting to walk their talk.
Management research backs up the assertion that integrity at the top is critical for both an organisation’s health and good leadership. But, how can you strengthen your character so that you can remain true to your values when times are tough, or survive in an organisation that doesn’t encourage integrity?
To help you on this journey, Leading with Integrity, the third CD in Management Press’s Leadership Series, provides practical suggestions so you can begin to lead with integrity, and be honest, truthful and trustworthy in your day-to-day work transactions.
