AIM Student Entry Procedure

The following information applies to students enrolling in Vocational Education (VET) Courses with AIM.

To ensure that prospective students are academically suited to completing a Diploma or Advanced Diploma through  AIM, applicants will be required to satisfy AIM’s entrance criteria. The criteria differ depending on whether the student is paying for their study through VET FEE-HELP or if the student is a full fee paying student. Please note that a student's enrolment with AIM is provisional until the enrty criteria have been met. Students that meet the entry criteria will have their enrolment status with AIM confirmed. Students who do not meet the criteria will have their enrolment cancelled.

Students Paying through VET FEE-HELP

The criteria can be met in one of two ways:

  • Students can supply a copy of their Senior Secondary School Certificate (awarded at the end of Year 12) – Note  this is the preferred method for satisfying the criteria.

  • If students are unable to provide a copy of their Senior Secondary School Certificate they will be required to undertake a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) assessment for numeracy and reading. This assessment is supplied through the Australian Council of Education Research (ACER) and is completed online

Supplying a copy of a Senior School Certificate

  • When completing AIM’s enrolment form student’s will be prompted to confirm that they wish to meet the entry criteria by supplying a copy of their Senior Secondary School Certificate

  • Students will be asked to submit a pdf of their Senior Secondary School Certificate with their enrolment form

Undertaking the CSPA

  • When completing AIM’s enrolment form student’s will be prompted to confirm that they wish to meet the entry criteria by undertaking  Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) assessment

  • Students will be emailed login and URL details to undertake the test

  • Once the test is completed students will be notified of their results

  • Students will need to display competence at or above Exit Level 3 in both numeracy and reading to meet the entry criteria

Full Fee Paying Students

Fee for service (FFS) students who are enrolling in a VET qualification with AIM will undergo a suitability check as part of AIM’s enrolment process. This suitability check is to determine that each student has sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to enable him or her to successfully complete their course. If AIM has concerns about a student's academic ability we will request that the student provide AIM with a copy of their Senior Secondary School Certificate (at the completion of Year 12) or that they complete a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) in numeracy and reading.
