I really enjoyed how interactive and engaging the topics and the facilitator were. (The facilitator) created an excellent space where the group could express themselves if they wished to.

Applying Strategic Thinking
The challenge is to gain the ability to move from the specifics of day-to-day operational service delivery to the much bigger picture overview required in the strategic dimension of our work.
In this program we explore the concept of strategic thinking from a number of different perspectives, and we argue that strategic thinking plays a far greater role in our individual success and effectiveness, whether at home or in the workplace, than is commonly acknowledged.
The program provides participants with a wide range of practical tools and techniques that they can take back to their workplaces and use to help themselves and their teams be more strategic and develop more effective long-term strategies.
Who should attend
This two-day program is designed for public and private sector executive staff who wish both to strengthen their strategic thinking abilities and to develop more strategic behaviours in the workplace.
It is designed for participants drawn from a wide range of organisations, as this will enable a free exchange of a wide range of relevant and current examples, as well as providing an effective setting for future networking.
- Defining strategy and strategic thinking, including key principles, and a structured approach
- Clarifying outcomes and developing a better understanding of the current operating environment
- Undertaking stakeholder / client analysis
- Managing blocks and barriers to strategic thinking
- Developing innovative strategy options and evaluating them to bring about change
This program is delivered on AIM-campuses over two days.
It can also be tailored for in-house delivery to meet particular organisational circumstances. We recommend the program be delivered away from the workplace where possible, to ensure participants are able to focus on the program content and professional development.
While the program is usually delivered as a two-day workshop, it can be altered to meet the specific needs of Departments or Agencies.
