April Edition of Leading Edge with Ann Messenger
It's been another busy month at AIM and we are looking forward to our fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 24th May 2017.
Following the resignation of our longstanding Board Member Mr David Conry, a Board position in the pre-existing division of Queensland/Northern Territory has become vacant in accordance with rule 10.12 of the Constitution. Two additional Board positions will also become vacant at the 2017 AGM, in accordance with rule 10.6 of the Constitution “Retirement by rotation”. These two positions are currently held by Directors from the pre-existing divisions New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory (Mr Mike Zissler FAIM) and South Australia (Mr Andrew McFarlane FAIM). Both Mike and Andrew are eligible for re-election and both have advised that they will re-stand.
Any AIM Group Voting Member is entitled to make a nomination for the office of Director providing they meet the constitutional requirements, including the minimum term of membership. The nomination must be made to the Secretary at the registered office at Level 16, 40 Creek Street, Brisbane QLD 4000. Nominations close at 5.00pm local time on Wednesday 26 April 2017. More information regarding the AIM Group Director elections is available here.
As AIM seeks to be informative and transparent, I am pleased to advise that we will be releasing the 2016 Annual Report in the upcoming days. The report showcases the significant progress we have made across key areas of AIM’s business throughout 2016. Notable turnarounds and great results include an increase in Member numbers for all categories of Membership, the turnaround of the iconic National Salary Survey, an increase in revenue from AIM events and the growth of the Skilled Migration Assessment and Management Diagnostic Tools.
With May approaching and marking the start of the annual billing period, we encourage you, our valued Members, to reflect on your leadership and management journey with AIM and why you are a Member! Finally, and I've been saving the best till last, I am absolutely thrilled and very proud to report that the Signature Events Team have delivered yet another tremendously successful event – the AIM Conference Leaderships Matters: 7 Skills of Very Successful Leaders - in Melbourne. The Conference drew on AIM’s 76 years of experience in leadership and management in formulating the building blocks of a successful leader.
Delegates of the Conference voted their top three sessions of the day to be:
1. Leading people with Elain Jobson FAIM
2. Defining culture with Jerome Parisse-Brassens
3. Setting strategy with Stephanie Asher FAIM
The glowing feedback from attendees for the high calibre of speakers and content is a great boost for AIM’s upcoming book to be published later this year which provided the basis for the Conference.
To conclude, once again, thank you for your past and ongoing support in helping to make AIM what it is today. With the Easter holidays coming up, on behalf of everyone here at AIM I wish you and your family a very happy, safe and relaxing break!
