Time Commitment
The time it will take to develop competency in the units that form this qualification is dependent on existing skills and experience.
To complete the course within the specified duration, students should plan to commit approximately 8–10 hours per week to learning and skills development activities, including practice and formative tasks. Additional time will be required to complete assessment activities used to assess and confirm competency.
Assessments
To achieve the qualification you will complete 8 units of competency including 7 core units and 1 elective unit.
This program has been purposefully designed to accommodate working professionals. Accordingly, all training, course material completion and practical coaching activity is conducted in a way that is mindful of an appropriate work/life balance.
To achieve the qualification you will need to:
- Practical coaching
- Attend live training (if applicable) or listen to online webinars
- Completing workbooks and reading
- Live coaching demonstrations
- Undertaking a 'Type Discovery' profile for your own self-awareness and coaching flexibility
- Practical coaching assignments including a coaching practical, a book review, work on psychological safety and AI in coaching.
Coaching Assignment
You will complete practical coaching assignments including a coaching practical, a book review, work on psychological safety and AI in Coaching.
For the Coaching Practical, you will: coach a person for four sessions, utilising all of the coaching models and tools learnt in the Cert IV program; and then write up a case study to reflect and consider your coachee’s situation, how you supported them and your own coaching performance.
The coaching you complete as part of this assignment can be used as coaching demonstrations (see below).
Coaching Demonstration Recordings
The Certificate IV in Workplace and Business Coaching (11314NAT) requires you to complete five (5) coaching demonstrations, using a variety of coaching models and tools from the program. You must complete and pass all five demonstrations as part of your assessment.
If you are completing a face to face program or in-house program, providing you complete all face to face days and coaching practices and have been observed by the course facilitator, you will need to submit TWO coaching demonstrations at the end of your course work.
If you are completing the self-paced program online, you will be required to complete and submit five (5) recordings for assessment.
You will be given feedback by your course facilitator or online assessor for all demonstrations.

Additional Information
Entry requirements
While there are no mandatory entry requirements, It is recommended entrants have:
- A minimum of six months of employment or volunteer experience in working with a range of people in the workplace
- Competency in literacy (reading and writing), oral communication and learning strategies – sufficient to use coaching tools to coach people in the workplace; reflect on their coaching and receive feedback; and document answers to assessment questions.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
