Who is better placed to teach the art and science of management than those with current, daily real-world experience?

FAQs

Advanced Communication (Online) is a self-paced AIM online short course that builds your ability to communicate, debate, and argue complex ideas in the workplace with clarity and influence. It harnesses critical thinking skills to help you engage others and deliver ideas with real impact. It is ideal for professionals who regularly need to present, argue, and defend ideas, including managers, analysts, and specialists working across functions. For those who prefer a live, facilitator-led experience, the on-campus Advanced Communication course is also available.

Upon completion you will be able to: articulate, present and debate ideas in the context of your work or broader life experiences, using creative techniques to provoke response, reaction and critical discussion; distil key themes, messages and positions to aid clarity of presentation; debate and argue substantiated positions on ideas while being open to critical analysis; and identify and participate in conversations that challenge and explore concepts and generate new ideas.

The course provides up to 6 months of continuous access to AIM's myAIM online learning platform. Study at your own pace, 24/7, on any device. Activities, reflections and case studies link your learning back to your workplace. Inclusions are downloadable course notes and tools. There is no formal assessment; payment is by credit card only. Unique login details are provided to each student and must not be shared.

This course is designed for professionals who already have a communication foundation and want to develop higher-order argumentation, debate and critical thinking skills. If you are newer to professional communication, AIM recommends starting with Effective Communication (Online) before progressing to this course.

Both develop the same advanced argumentation and debate skills. Advanced Communication (Online) is fully self-paced with up to 6 months of access, ideal for independent, flexible study. The on-campus Advanced Communication course runs for one full day with live facilitation, peer debate practice, and real-time expert feedback. Choose based on whether you prefer flexibility or the engagement of a live learning environment.
