Introducing the newly elected AIM Group Chair - Ann Messenger

Friday, May 22, 2015

I cannot recall a more exciting time to be a leader and manager.

Businesses and organisations are more complex than ever. This complexity is underpinned by technology-led disruption, changing consumer behaviour, increased regulation and global competitiveness. Workplaces are also changing, with greater demands on managers and leaders than ever before.

It is in this context that I am very excited to be the new chair of the AIM Group. As managers and leaders we must arm ourselves with the right information, the right networks and the right skills - for the right stage in our career.

At AIM, our clear mission is to help you be prepared for the challenges and opportunities we face at all stages of our working lives.

To do this, we must increase the value we provide to members at all levels. Life Members, Fellows, Associate Fellows and Members can all look forward to greater opportunities to get more out of their membership.

Many new initiatives to enhance the AIM membership proposition are already underway such as new mentoring and ethics programs. But we have much more to do.

We will ensure better targeting of events to create a greater sense of community. We will increase networking opportunities. And we will become greater advocates on behalf of the managers and leaders of today.

There is a lot to look forward to.

I’m very pleased that our new chief executive of the AIM Group, David Pich, is joining us in July. David has an impressive background in senior roles across many discipline and sectors. He was national head of fundraising, marketing and communication for CanTeen and the inaugural chief executive of the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation. Most recently he has been the Head of Australia & New Zealand at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

David will work closely with the chief executive of AIM Education & Training, Daniel Musson, to ensure that through our combined resources we deliver the greatest possible benefits to members, clients and students.

I would like to thank the outgoing directors for their service and in particular, the outgoing chairman Grant Dearlove. I also sincerely thank Tony Gleeson who has acted as chief executive of the AIM Group for the past three months.

I look forward to keeping you updated on the progress we’re making. We always value your feedback and I encourage you to provide this to us.

Kind regards

Ann Messenger FAIM
